BLOSSOM
Ms Curvaceous’ Confidence Workshops Changed my Life: Blossom’s Story.
59-year-old plus size model, Blossom was the eldest woman ever to make it to the Ms Curvaceous competition finals. The 5 ft 8 in (173 cm), UK size 16 model says her life has changed completely since entering the competition. She left an abusive relationship, rekindled her relationship with God, changed careers and re-discovered old talents she thought she had lost.
Blossom’s biggest accomplishments are doing it all at her age and appearing on the cover of Woman magazine after being a finalist in the 2019 Ms Curvaceous competition.
Prior to entering the Ms Curvaceous confidence-building workshop in 2018, Blossom says that she was stuck in a mentally abusive relationship:
“The person who I was with made me feel I was ugly and that no one would ever look at me. In fact, he used to say that quite a lot, and I started to believe it.”
To make matters worse, she was also working a job that was making her both unhappy and tense. Instead of being supportive, her partner only added to her misery.
“If I was snoring, he would wake me up in the middle of the night and start shouting at me. So then I would wake up really tired. I used to come home to stress and go to work to stress.”
Tense, overwhelmed, with her self-confidence dangerously low, Blossom decided she needed to do something that would pick up her spirits. That is when she found out about the Ms Curvaceous confidence-building program.
“I was searching for something to help me get over my life. I thought the event was going to be a one-off thing, and I initially went because I wanted to mingle with other people that thought of themselves in the same way I was thinking of myself,” the model adds.
Blossom attended the confidence-building workshop and mentioned that the supportive and encouraging environment made her feel at home and inspired her to take part in the modelling competition as well.
By the time the Ms Curvaceous competition finals were underway, Blossom had emerged as one of the competition finalists, and she was beginning to change. Even those who had known her for years could see it, too:
“I was on top of the world. Even my friends that came to watch the show said they have never known me to be so confident when I was, you know, walking on the catwalk and feeling so elated.”
Shortly after the competition, she was surprised to find out from the Ms Curvaceous sister model agency that she had been chosen to grace the cover of a popular women’s magazine:
“I didn’t even have to audition for it. It was a paid gig, too. I was overwhelmed by that. That they could just look at my picture and decide to go with me. That was such an amazing experience. Being on Woman magazine’s cover remains one of the great highlights of my life.”
Having made it as one of the finalists in the modelling competition, with her face now on a publication cover, Blossom too, like her name, began to “blossom” more into the reality of how amazing she really is.
Now, with a new sense of her potential, Blossom’s newfound confidence gave her the courage to make a series of hard decisions, among the first of these being a change in jobs.
“I could no longer deal with a stressful day job and a mentally abusive man at night. I decided to apply for another job. The job that was available at the time was just temporary and one of the things I was told to do was to save the organisation money. I managed to save them £800k that year and as a result, they gave me a promotion and I ended up in a whole new job. It’s just been amazing. I love my job now.”
As she went from owning her power in her career, Blossom then decided that it was time to break ties with her partner, who she reveals she was engaged for five of the nine years that they were together:
“When that happened (the breakup), I didn't feel any form of loss at all. I felt elated. I felt relieved, I felt happy. I couldn't believe the difference in me. Because I wasn't grieving, I felt like I was released from a mental prison.”
With more time on her hands, Blossom began to connect with old friends and old talents, such as listening to music and DJing. As a result, she has since gone on to DJ for 250 people on a Facebook Live video, has received offers to perform at gigs and has also received an offer to become a radio presenter for two hours a week on a local radio station.
She credits God and Ms Curvaceous as the two forces that orchestrated her total life change:
“God is the one that directed me to Ms Curvaceous so that I could be my better self and understand my worth. As a result, I am the best I've ever been in my life. And that is not an exaggeration. That is how I actually feel. I feel so worthy. I feel so confident. And I am loved by many people. And I can't remember feeling this way for a long time. I would recommend anyone who is feeling down and out or who feels like they are not worthy or that they are ugly to go to Ms Curvaceous and see how it works out for you. I am pretty sure that you would be your better self once you experience Ms Curvaceous.”
